Innovative Design and Features
The new P7 showcases Xpeng’s signature “Xmart Face” design language, characterized by a slim light bar, an illuminated logo, hidden millimetre-wave radar, and frameless mirrors. The exterior also includes a floating roof, a spacious liftback tailgate, retractable door handles, and an active rear spoiler, all contributing to a sleek aerodynamic profile with a drag coefficient of just 0.201 Cd. With dimensions of 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height, the vehicle features a generous 3,008 mm wheelbase and offers wheel options of 20 and 21 inches. The performance variant is equipped with scissor doors and Brembo brakes.
Luxurious Interior and Cutting-Edge Technology
Inside, the P7 impresses with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, an 8.8-inch instrument display, and an 87-inch AR-HUD. It boasts a high-quality 23-speaker 7.1.4 sound system and offers a choice of interior colors including dark grey, light grey, and purple. The compact steering wheel integrates control knobs, while the front seats feature 16-way adjustments, heating, ventilation, and massage options. The cargo space starts at 575 litres and expands to 1,929 litres when the rear seats are folded down.
Performance and Efficiency
The rear-wheel-drive model delivers an impressive 270 kW (362 hp), while the all-wheel-drive variant produces a staggering 437 kW (586 hp), accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 230 km/h. Battery options include a 74.9 kWh LFP and a 92.2 kWh NMC pack, providing ranges from 702 to 820 km based on CLTC figures. Remarkably, with 5C fast charging, the vehicle can recover up to 525 km of range within just 10 minutes.
Advanced Suspension and Market Impact
The P7’s suspension system combines a double wishbone front with a five-link rear, enhanced by dual-chamber air suspension and adaptive damping, ensuring a balanced weight distribution close to 50:50.
The first-generation P7, which debuted in 2020, sold an impressive 190,935 units in China, according to China EV DataTracker. The new model has already made waves, receiving 10,000 orders within just seven minutes of its August release, signaling strong market interest and consumer demand.
