The electric vehicle market in China is rapidly evolving, and the latest buzz surrounds the JAC E30X hatchback. Recently spotted with a striking front design reminiscent of Huawei’s flagship SUV, the Aito M9, this updated model aims to make a significant impact in a competitive market. With a starting price of 69,900 yuan (approximately $9,800), the E30X is attempting to revitalize its sales and capture the attention of potential buyers.
Initially launched in June 2023 as the JAC Yiwei 3, the E30X struggled to gain traction, prompting a price drop from its original 97,900 yuan ($13,700). Despite this reduction, the cumulative deliveries of the E30X reached only 24,833 units by July 2025, according to China EV DataTracker. In a bold move, JAC is now set to release the updated E30X, featuring a front end that closely resembles the Huawei Aito M9.
Design Updates and Features
The updated JAC E30X was sighted in China on September 4, 2025, sporting a camouflaged front end that hinted at significant design changes. The new model showcases two bottle-shaped headlights connected by an LED strip, creating a distinct look that mirrors the Aito M9. The front bumper also aligns with the design language of Huawei’s premier crossover, signaling a strategic shift in branding.
Interestingly, while the front end has received substantial updates, the rear remains largely unchanged. It features smooth body panels, retractable door handles, and minimalistic square taillights, maintaining a sleek profile. Additional features include five-spoke rims and blacked-out pillars, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.
Market Position and Performance
In the increasingly competitive Chinese EV market, the JAC E30X competes against models like the Geely Xingyuan and BYD Seagull. The hatchback measures 4025mm in length, 1770mm in width, and 1560mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2620mm. Inside, the cabin accommodates five passengers and is equipped with a D-shaped steering wheel and a large floating touchscreen. Additionally, the trunk offers a capacity of 300 liters.
The E30X is a front-wheel-drive vehicle available in three power variants: 60 kW (80 hp), 70 kW (94 hp), and 100 kW (134 hp). It also offers three LFP battery options with capacities of 34.5 kWh, 41 kWh, and 51.5 kWh, providing a range of 330 to 505 km according to the CLTC standard. The domestic pricing ranges from 69,900 to 127,900 yuan ($9,800 to $17,910). Notably, the JAC E30X is a global model, with sales extending to markets in the Middle East, Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia.
