Nio Achieves Record High Vehicle Deliveries in August 2025

Nio, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced a remarkable milestone in its sales performance, achieving an all-time high for vehicle deliveries in August 2025. The company reported delivering a total of 31,305 vehicles, reflecting an impressive year-over-year increase of 55.2%.

This surge in deliveries is attributed to the strong performance of Nio’s multi-brand portfolio, which includes Nio, Onvo, and Firefly brands. Specifically, the Nio brand delivered 10,525 vehicles, while the Onvo brand accounted for a staggering 16,434 units. Additionally, the Firefly brand contributed 4,346 deliveries.

Current Delivery Stats

With these recent figures, Nio has now delivered a cumulative total of 838,036 vehicles. This impressive number includes 748,448 units from the Nio brand, 75,033 from Onvo, and 14,555 from Firefly.

Onvo L90: A Record-Setting Debut

One of the highlights of August was the debut of the Onvo L90, which achieved 10,575 deliveries in its first month, making it the fastest model in Nio’s history to surpass the 10,000-unit mark.

New ES8 Launch and Future Prospects

Adding to the excitement, Nio launched pre-sales for its all-new ES8 on August 21. This SUV, positioned as a tech flagship, has a starting pre-sale price of 416,800 yuan (approximately $58,150) for outright purchases, or 308,800 yuan ($43,080) with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option. Nio President Qin Lihong announced that pre-orders for the new ES8 had already exceeded the initial orders for the Onvo L90 by August 22, indicating its potential to become another best-selling model for the company. The official launch of the new Nio ES8 is set for Nio Day 2025, scheduled for late September.

Challenges Ahead

Despite the strong sales performance, Nio’s Founder and CEO William Li addressed significant challenges the company faces in a recent statement. He acknowledged the ambitious goal of achieving profitability by Q4 2025, stating, “For a long time, probably less than 1% of people in the world believed we could be profitable in Q4.” To reach this target, Li emphasized the need to maximize efficiency across the company and enhance business acumen in all departments.

Li remains optimistic about achieving the profitability goal, citing the high average selling price and favorable gross margins of the Onvo L90 and new ES8.

Previously, Nio’s most successful month was December 2024, when it sold 31,138 vehicles, with the Onvo L60 accounting for 10,528 units.
